What I think

I kind of miss the excitement of Christmas when the kids were younger. Not that they ever got up terribly early. Presents are open, they are all pleased, So now I am going to watch Christmas cartoons.

I apparently can not make a commitment to do anything daily. I thought about it but just didn't do it. And now here it is Christmas Eve. Just need to clean and bake and decide where to get the annual Christmas Eve Chinese food. The place here is no Yens. But no way I am driving an hour and a half.

Doctor called today made it sound like it was life or death so we went to the ER.  Tests are better than yesterday so after a few hours we went home. Think it could have been handled differently. But then Bill wanted McDonalds. It is good that he is hungry and the carbs were not that bad. Now he is resting.

Still not feeling very Christmasy around here. The doctor has found some new things to test for. Funny how you think you are just fine until you go to the doctor. But he is feeling good just antsy to be doing something.

Why do stores need to stay open so late at Christmas time? Micheals is open til 11 on a Sunday. What could anyone need. I think if you can't get to a store during regular hours you really don't need anything.

Got the cards done. We do not have mail pick up in our community mail box, the post box at city hall does not pick up on Saturday and the 5 boxes in front of the closed on Saturday the week before Christmas post office were totally full. I guess I will mail everything on Monday.

So writing every day or even every other day is not a thing I can do. Oh well. Bill came home yesterday. Lots of meds and doc appts. Got Hank Christmas opoly. Put it under the tree because the first thing he has been doing is turning the lights on. Don't know if that will continue now that everyone is home or not. Now Christmas cards.

Bill still not out of the hospital, Incision was infected. Maybe by Saturday. I have to figure out how to check the oil. Don't know the last time i did that. Not much Christmas in blogmas is there?

A wasp decided to make a home in the ornaments it stung me last night and it still hurts today. I bought wasp killer. Bill still in the hospital. Blood count high but he feels fine. Hank keeps asking when but I don't know. At least it is looking like Christmas around here. I am just behind on everything.

Apparently writing daily is not something I can do. I spend lots of time at the hospital and by the time I get home I forget. Anyway, there are lights and decorations up outside. Still need to finish the tree and get everything put away. A lot of decorations are somewhere that I can't find.

Apparently I missed day 7, oops. Today we are putting the tree up except we have to use a fake one because of the kittens and the one we have is too big for the room. A smaller one will look even more fake but we can't get a real one just in case the cats decide to eat it.

Cancelled both family Christmas parties. No way Bill is going to be able to sit in the car or deal with people.

Bill did not have a good night at the hospital. This is going to take more time than he thinks to heal. Thought someone, who said they would, would have gotten Christmas stuff down but no. We have found a few new things and are putting those things up.

Someone had to be dragged to the ER last night. Within a couple hours they knew he needed surgery. A week in the hospital and at least 2 more weeks of no work. Not very Christmasy.

Hank came out this morning and asked about Christmas decorations. Hope to be able to find them this week. We did find a few things to put on the mantle. Hopefully, the doctor will be able to help with Bills problem without the surgery he is sure he will need.

The fall stuff is still up. No idea where the Christmas stuff is. Someone put it all away but is now sick and getting ready to go to the ER. Hank did open his advent calendar and we watched his favorite you tuber open theirs.

The point of doing blogmas is to get me in the habit of writing. I want to I just don't. Today there will be some shopping and hopefully I will get fall put away.  Not sure about Christmas decorations. Someone doesn't know where he put them.

Summer is when I am the most nostalgic. I always think about it like a Norman Rockwell painting. In the summer we would go to grandmas and she would watch soaps. So I have been watching the one that is still airing. I screen door slammed behind me the other day and I could hear her yelling 'don't slam the screen door' I am not sad remembering summers past but sometimes I wish we could have them again.

So this house has ants. We have put Sevan in the yard but it has not helped much. Might have to get the Orkin man out but I dont know what he can do about ants. The garden is growing nicely and we have planted a few flowers. Most of the plants we brought with us are growing. The floor and baseboards are done.

The beginning of the garden. Much of the yard is gravel. So along the fence is potato bags. Callie got them on Amazon and the 7 different kinds of potato came from Irish Eyes. We will be using fabric raised beds, also purchased from Amazon. When we first looked at the house there was a large play structure, which the previous owner took with her, so that area is bark chips. So we will be using it for gardening. There are also coffee sacks, purchased at Craft Warehouse, that we are growing rhubarb and asparagus in.

So we finally got one room in the house done, The smallest room of course. The bathroom needed to have a hand towel holder and the trim around the window. The door had the wood trim, that is through out the house around it so we had to finish the window in the same way. The baseboard is white  but since it and the tile appear new we just left it.  We also frosted the window, used can stuff, it stunk and took 2 tries to get it right. The only storage is a medicine cabinet we added behind the door.

I rarely go barefooted in the house. As close as I get is flip flops. But when I put on shoes and socks I seem to be way more productive. Not even just shoes has to be with socks.

We have been without a washer and dryer so I have had to go to the laundromat. In a little over an hour I would have all the clothes washed and dried and ready to take home and put away. The new washer and dryer have been delivered and laundry seems like such a daunting task that I have not done it. I expect that it will take hours to do and I am not looking forward to it.

This house is surrounded by rocks. All the flower beds are full of rocks, There is a large spot of the back yard that is gravel and then a large spot that is cement.  I do not like the look of the rocks but apparently someone at some point did. Once I figure out how to get rid of the rocks they are on their way out. We did get some bulbs planted but I don't know how well they will do.

I could say that I will blog every week just to keep track of how things are going; but I won't so no point in pretending I will. Things have calmed down over the last couple of weeks but I have been on break and have been home more than I haven't been.  School starts again tom, so will have to see what happens with that.

I am not cut out for blogging. I think I should but never do. The big thing this year was buying a house. It has not been a good thing. Hank said 'this house sucks, well not really the house, but it sucks'  And he is right. There is nothing wrong with the house. It is not the house I wanted and not the area I wanted. Buying it as lead to a lot of problems. Some not good things have happened. Because of the driving I am gone a lot and Hank is home by himself a lot and that seems to be a problem for him. Other than that the year has been fairly calm.
