Back to school

Summer is over, back to work tom.  How did I do on my summer to do list?  Not so good.
Hanks room is almost painted, he wants yellow in the room so I am going to paint the doors yellow and need to get the paint.  Spinning: none.  Couponing:  Don't get it.  Canning:  A little more successful; salsa, blackberry jam, pickles.  Sewing:  Hanks quilt.
Did not spend anytime online at sites like craftsy and pinterest.  The back room is not done.  The yard stuff I wanted to do is not done.  And the bamboo lace shall has not been touched.
Hank has said he does not want to go to public school and he says he may listen to me when we do school at home.

Lent challenge

 I am always joking about what I am giving up for Lent but never do. I mean what kind of sacrifice is it to give up coffee. But this year, on Ash Wed. in fact, I decided I would challenge myself to give up saying all the snarky things I say to and about other people. If I could do that it would be something. On Sunday the priest said Lent is not about giving up something but about getting back on track and getting to where you want to go. And so, this is the perfect challenge for me. FYI, I have failed multiple times already. 40 days is just way to long to be good.

In the news

 I heard a news story about a school that was not allowing students to participate in year end activities if all their fees had not been paid. This is not an unusual stance, I've heard it before. It is not right that the children are punished for something they have no control over and the fees still won't be paid/ But, what struck me the most is a parent who said 'this is just showing them that if they don't have money they don't get things'. Um duh. If you don't work and earn money and save for things you want you don't get them. And you shouldn't. What happened to the Americans who worked and expected nothing from anyone. Where did all those people go?
