End of July

Where does the time go?  There was so much I was going to accomplish this summer and I have done very little.
H's room is almost done.  Last of the painting will be finished today. Sorting thru all the stuff that 'someone' has dumped in that room will be a pain tho.
The garden is growing. Hank got to pick peas.  And he ate them.  He is not a veggie fan.  How did that happen.
Did several knitting projects this month.  The bamboo lace shall is still waiting to be finished.  That and a pair of socks is all I am knitting.
Have decided to take a break, kinda, from school.  Spelling, multiplication, science or craft projects and some reading.  Will start again in Sept. with more in depth stuff.  Have made up a daily schedule.  He hates it and is constantly trying to change the times.

Lent challenge

 I am always joking about what I am giving up for Lent but never do. I mean what kind of sacrifice is it to give up coffee. But this year, on Ash Wed. in fact, I decided I would challenge myself to give up saying all the snarky things I say to and about other people. If I could do that it would be something. On Sunday the priest said Lent is not about giving up something but about getting back on track and getting to where you want to go. And so, this is the perfect challenge for me. FYI, I have failed multiple times already. 40 days is just way to long to be good.

In the news

 I heard a news story about a school that was not allowing students to participate in year end activities if all their fees had not been paid. This is not an unusual stance, I've heard it before. It is not right that the children are punished for something they have no control over and the fees still won't be paid/ But, what struck me the most is a parent who said 'this is just showing them that if they don't have money they don't get things'. Um duh. If you don't work and earn money and save for things you want you don't get them. And you shouldn't. What happened to the Americans who worked and expected nothing from anyone. Where did all those people go?
