Feb. Finally

I need to be better about writing.  so far in Feb.  I have only managed to read 2 books, the last being Spells and Stitches.  I have finished knitting 2 charity hats.  I have a pair of plain socks on the needles and the Farmer McGregor socks from the Soctopus book.  One is finished and it's ugly and doesn't fit.  The second one seems to be better so if it continues to be so and fits better I will rip out the first one and re do it.  Hopefully, the yarn will co operate since it has already been ripped out once.
I have also started to sort thru Hanks homeschool stuff.  Maybe someday it will be an actual curriculum.

Lent challenge

 I am always joking about what I am giving up for Lent but never do. I mean what kind of sacrifice is it to give up coffee. But this year, on Ash Wed. in fact, I decided I would challenge myself to give up saying all the snarky things I say to and about other people. If I could do that it would be something. On Sunday the priest said Lent is not about giving up something but about getting back on track and getting to where you want to go. And so, this is the perfect challenge for me. FYI, I have failed multiple times already. 40 days is just way to long to be good.

In the news

 I heard a news story about a school that was not allowing students to participate in year end activities if all their fees had not been paid. This is not an unusual stance, I've heard it before. It is not right that the children are punished for something they have no control over and the fees still won't be paid/ But, what struck me the most is a parent who said 'this is just showing them that if they don't have money they don't get things'. Um duh. If you don't work and earn money and save for things you want you don't get them. And you shouldn't. What happened to the Americans who worked and expected nothing from anyone. Where did all those people go?
